This devotional is directed towards foster and adoptive parents who have taken on the challenge to parent traumatized children. Many such parents enter this new world for a variety of reasons. Frequently, Christians see it as a calling, a ministry to the “fatherless” and “orphans.” This calling may be down played but as Christians, it should be in the forefront of our lives. I (Faye) am well aware of the difficulties in parenting a traumatized child. In those days, I needed all the support I could find. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the written materials I encountered were from a psychological framework. While these were helpful and I will be forever grateful for those who have guided my path, I know “my help cometh from the Lord” Ps. 12:12. I needed encouragement and direction in that path, too.
